Spanish-born Alex Aldama hand-picks the goods in his vibrant gift and home store from far-flung places like Peru, Italy, Mexico, Nepal, Cambodia, Bangkok, and beyond, each item reflecting his affinity for colorful, handmade, Fair Trade wares. Wooden birds flap their wings in the windows of the colorful storefront; yellow tulips frame the doorway, and the walls are painted in citrus shades. Even with the eclectic array of items—recycled totes from Shanghai, ornate Italian heart shaped mirrors, painted Day of the Dead boxes, and hand-sewn stuffed toys—Aldama is intimately acquainted with the origin and artistry of each, offering friendly commentary for browsers. Much of the stock embraces a green slant, like blue glass vases made from recycled soda bottles and Engage Green’s sturdy tulip totes woven from recycled paper.
