Profile
Hardly a corner florist, the Designer's Co-op is not the place to call for a last-minute Mother's Day bouquet (they don't do personal arrangements). Owner Bridget Vizoso, who honed her skills working with style maestros Antony Todd and David Stark, has finessed parties for 50 Cent and Janet Jackson, as well as lots of boldfaced organizations (like Lincoln Center) on the non-profit charity ball circuit. With a mantra of “modern yet organic,” she also tends to attract brides-to-be who don't mind digging deep for show-stopping floral displays. Her textural, large-scale installations incorporate branches and eye-catching blooms in saturated colors (think poppies, amaryllis, ranunculus), along with props, massive swaths of fabric, and projected images. Vizoso often collaborates with other designers to help her create multiple “environments” within a space, and recently managed 13 artists working on four different themes for a wedding at the Foundry.

While the rest of the city scurries up and down Broadway, these three micro–shopping districts remain blissfully unpicked-over.
