Far removed from Williamsburg’s trendy bars and restaurants, Hotel Le Jolie is sadly situated on a desolate strip next to the rumbling Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The hotel’s closest neighbor is an abandoned gas station that looks especially ominous at night; it’s no wonder the reception desk is behind a pane of protective glass. Guests can at least unwind once they’re tucked inside one of the 54 modern rooms. Comfortable and compact, each has a basic black-and-white palette and is outfitted with plush, allergen-free bedding, a large desk, and a cushy ergonomic chair. Thankfully, with little to do in the immediate area, the rooms are equipped with a 42-inch plasma, in-room movies, an iPod docking station, and free Wi-Fi. Yet all of these are probably meant to distract from the cars whizzing past the window: The worst views looks directly down at the BQE, while the best showcase the Manhattan skyline from afar. At least the traffic isn’t really audible, especially when the television is turned up high.
ProsPlenty of in-room amenities make the hotel a little more palatable.
