Staying at the Hotel Bedford is like staying in a real Manhattan apartment, with one very weighty exception: it’s spacious and affordable. Large families or groups of students flock to the Hotel Bedford in Murray Hill for the oversized rooms—many as large as 200-square-feet—that come complete with fold-out couches and stocked kitchenettes. Of course, Manhattan living has its down sides: some rooms are well-worn and admittedly in need of a make-over, with stained carpets and dented molding. But it’s price (not aesthetics) that continue to be the hotel's selling points. Just minutes from Grand Central Terminal, the Bedford sits tucked away on a quiet side street, sheltered from the noise and throngs of fanny pack-wearing tourists.
ProsYou can pack a lot of people into the spacious guest rooms.
Cons
The rooms are a bit run-down.
