You can’t get much ritzier than 57th and Park, but the mood inside Roy Teeluck’s cozy salon is wonderfully plush and mellow. Dominated by a huge, second-floor window overlooking the bustling street below, the 13-chair salon is the first solo venture for British-born Teeluck, who trained in London and Paris with hairdo luminaries like Serge Normand, Frédéric Fekkai and Brad Johns. Teeluck’s too discreet to namedrop celebrity clients, but ample referrals from the nearby Four Seasons hotel keep the studio buzzing. Clients praise the stylist’s cuts, and his relaxed charm, echoed by the Teeluck team of fifteen stylists and five colorists who cut, color, perm, extend, straighten, relax, tint and groom. Teeluck helps create products for Nexxus, so it’s no surprise to find that company well-represented in the retail nook, along with offerings from L'Oréal’s pro-line and Japanese brand Crede. Eyebrow master Duffy Neuberger rounds out the staff.
Bridal HairThe salon recommends that brides bring their veils and a picture of their wedding dress to the trial appointment for cuts, colors, and consultation (schedule a month and a half before the wedding). They'll style short hair, or come up with a longer look using combs, flowers, or jewels; one stylist specializes in hair and eyelash extensions. Wedding-day hair is priced rather affordably per stylist. Book one to two months in advance.
