At many eponymous salons, the only outstanding stylists are the ones whose names are on the door. That isn't the case at Pierre Michel. Pierre Ouaknine and Michel Obadia, who've been grooming the rich and famous since 1962, stock their established Midtown beauty mecca with top talent. With more than 75 staff members on board—50 in the hair department alone—the range of salon expertise is broad, so the owners train their front desk personnel to help new customers find the expert who will best suit their needs. The 8,000-square-foot, tri-level salon was designed to optimize the experience and outcome of all services offered: On the ground floor, hair extensions are applied and makeup artists work their magic in the Shiseido microsalon while clients order cappuccinos from the David Burke cafe. Nail services are on the second floor. On the third level, sky-lit workspaces help colorists achieve natural-looking highlights, and the option of a simultaneous facial using Shiseido products enables busy clients to multi-task beauty rituals.
Bridal HairYolanda Palmer is the main bridal coordinator at this lively salon, which is known for great manicures, haircuts, and color. In-house hair and makeup is available as well as out-of-salon work for the bride. Hair and makeup consultations are not included.
