Former IT manager Diane Hanson discovered vinotherapy — spa treatments powered by a free-radical-combating grape extract called resveratrol — during her honeymoon in Stellenbosch, South Africa; she brought her discovery home by opening Gotham’s first wine spa in early 2007. Now all treatments at this 2,500 square foot retreat (customized hydrating facials, toning manicures, and contouring body wraps) contain the super-strong antioxidant, culled from Chardonnay and Cabernet as well as Stellenbosch’s signature Pinotage varietal. Apart from seven treatment rooms outfitted with cork floors, curious locals will also find a boutique (with D'vine and TheraVine products), a locker room (with merlot-colored glass tiles), and a candle-lit hydrotherapy room. As a post-treatment ritual, guests are invited into the Bordeaux lounge to sip a glass of red or white.
Bridal PackageThe only spa in New York to offer vinotherapy (a French treatment incorporating wine grapes), Delluva, which opened in January, offers two packages for brides. The Bouquet and the Grand Bouquet pamper brides over the four months leading up to the wedding, with monthly facials and massages (60 minutes with the Bouquet package, 90 with the Grand Bouquet), plus makeup application on the day of the wedding. Each package includes two Riedel crystal flutes and a bottle of champagne, though if you opt for the Grand Bouquet you'll be guzzling Dom Pérignon. Delluva can accommodate bridal parties as large as sixteen.
