Profile

Don’t be fooled by the ritzy name or posh décor: Le Royale is a nightclub for music lovers, not model nuzzlers. Sure, you’re likely to bump into a few long-legged vixens at the Factory-inspired upstairs bar or the Art Deco–glamorous downstairs lounge, but they’re probably there because they’re dating the D.J. Co-owners David Baxley (of the late CentroFly) and D.J. Terry Casey have taken the cozy boîte, formerly home to Luke & Leroy—birthplace of MisShapes and Rated X—and made the most of its cabaret license. Live music is scheduled several nights a week, and Robot Rock, formerly at nearby Movida, takes over on Fridays. The hipsterati, who once ruled this roost, have been somewhat infiltrated by the bottle-service crowd, but, overall, the door and table policies are now refreshingly democratic.
