Profile

Situated on a desolate street and adorned with a pink awning left over from its days as the "Xie He Health Club," this bi-level lounge exudes a sleazy charm that is lapped up by the limited-edition sneaker posse of the Lower East Side, who come here for promoter-driven late nights and Bowery Ballroom after-show parties. Upstairs, the room is decked with sparkly tables, a violet-lit paneled ceiling, and high horseshoe booths that encourage light petting to the DJ’s sexy mix of electro, disco, hip-hop and groove. Over at the bar a respectable array of house concoctions is doled out including the excellent Mr. Ginger (ginger-infused vodka, fresh lime juice, and ginger ale). Downstairs, where there is another DJ booth and bar, the old steam rooms now make excellent birthday party nooks or impromptu VIP rooms where one might relive the glory days.

Extra

Happy Ending has a reasonably eclectic events schedule, however two stalwarts are worth noting: The Varsity Letters Reading series—a forum for sports fiction—is held the first Thursday of every month, while the second and fourth Wednesdays host the main literary offering, the Happy Ending Reading Series (HERS).
